A GRAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH—THURSDAY
     Last night was a wonderful night at First Baptist Church.  There were activities for different ages and the Bible Study was led by Dr. Jeff Gravens.  Ronnie and Anita Glossup led the congregation in music and Nathan Bilyeu sang a beautiful solo.  Nathan is a very talented young man and we are blessed as a church family to have him at FBC.  There will be NO ministry or Bible Study next Wednesday night (7/3).  The Bible Study Hour with Dr. Graven is broadcasted each Wednesday night at 6:00 p. m. on Cable Channel 2.
     Tomorrow (6/28) the middle and high school students will leave for Camp WOW in Oklahoma.  Over 90 students and sponsors will leave for a great spiritual experience.  Please pray for the students and sponsors.
     The Men’s Coffee Fellowship will be held tomorrow at 8:30 a. m. in room 108.  This is a time of great fellowship and prayer time for others.  All men are invited to attend.  All preschoolers are invited with their parents to attend a great time of fun at the ROC beginning at 9:00 a. m.
     Sunday (6/30) Dr. Gravens will be preaching in the morning and evening services.  In the morning services, 8:30 a. m. and 11:00 a. m. the message is: “THE LORD IS NEAR” from Philippians 4:1-9.   The evening message at 6:00 p. m. is: “First Son and Father” from Luke 15:11-32.  If you live in the Hopkins County area the FBC family would love to have you worship the Lord with us in the services.  The services are broadcasted on Cable Channel 2 and by streaming on Facebook.  Make Sunday a day of worship and attend a Bible believing church in your neighborhood.
     It is very important to begin your day with God.  God loves to hear from you and His children.  God loves to hear from you at the end of the day.  Reading God’s Word (The Bible) is good medicine for the soul.  When you can’t sleep, start praying and you will awake the next morning rested and ready to go.

A GREAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-FRIDAY:
     
     Today is the final day of Vacation Bible School at FBC.  It has been an exciting week of learning, fun, great fellowship, wonderful snacks and great people teaching the Word of God.  Many people hear the Gospel of Christ for the first time in VBS.  Many teachers and workers have given a week of their time to share and love the children.  Our thanks and great appreciation for all the teachers, workers, helpers and young students that worked to make a great week of learning about Jesus for these children.
     Sunday (6/23) at the 8:30 a. m. worship services the VBS children will be singing.  Dr. Jeff Gravens will be preaching in the morning services and his message is: “Citizens of Heaven” from Philippians 3:15-21.  There will be Bible Study Life Groups at 9:45 a. m.  During this hour all guests will be invited to Fellowship Hall to have a breakfast snack with Pastor Jeff.  It is going to be a great day.  If you are in the Hopkins County area, you are personally invited to worship with this church family.
     There will be a 6:00 p. m. evening service at FBC and Dr. Jeff Gravens will be preaching.  The evening message is: “Rejoicing and Repenting” from Luke 15:3-10.  You can hear and view all the services on Cable Channel 2 or stream the service on Facebook.
     How many people say or hear:  “THE GOOD OLD DAYS”?  I will take today and be thankful.  Modern technology has produced hot water for showers.  A refrigerator to keep items cold.  A telephone you can carry anywhere, etc.  A man told me this morning that he had a hot water shower for the first time in two days because for the lost of power.  So many things we take for granted and when they are not there, we begin to thank the Lord for little things created from technology.

A GREAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-WEDNESDAY:  
                         Today is Day Three of Vacation Bible School and IN THE WILD.  The excitement continues to grow.  FBC is a wonderful place where children and adults are learning the Word of God.  All children and parents are going to be invited to the 8:30 a. m. worship service on Sunday (6/23) to hear the children sing the songs they have learned this week in VBS.  In Fellowship Hall at 9:45 a. m. Pastor Jeff will be meeting with the parents for a breakfast snack.    
       Tonight FBC will have Bible Study.  The Bible Study will be led by Dr. Jeff Gravens.  It begins at 6:00 p. m. in the FBC Worship Center.  You and the community are invited to attend.
     Prayer and reading God’s Word (The Bible) is just one way we can directly connect with God.  God is the author of the Bible and he used Godly men to write down what God wants you to know.  Written many years ago, it is still applicable for these years and for all generations.
     Hard to believe that we are in the sixth month of this year!  Where does the time go?  It is very important to use each day to the Glory of God, for your family and for your friends.  You will never live Wednesday, June 19, again.  Enjoy the day, but don’t waste it.

A GREAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-TUESDAY:  
                   
     Yesterday the enrollment of FBC VBS was 683.  Many adults and children together learning the Word of God.  Today there were more people to come and the excitement continues to grow.  It is great to see Pastor Jeff being involved and sharing with the children.  This Sunday morning at the 8:30 a. m. worship services, the children will be sharing music and Bible verses they have learned during this week of VBS.
     Tomorrow is Day 3 of VBS.  There is still time for your child or student to come and be a part of VBS at First Baptist Church.
       On Wednesday night, (6/19) FBC will have Mid-Week Bible Study.  The Bible Study will be led by Dr. Jeff Gravens.  It begins at 6:00 p. m. in the FBC Worship Center.  You and the community are invited to attend.
     Technology continues to change.  It affects how and what we do daily.  The Gospel message of Christ is the same for all generations.  Technology has changed the means of communication, but Pastor Jeff preaches from God’s Word the Truth of God.  If you do not live in our area, you can hear Pastor Jeff every Sunday morning or night by streaming the service on Facebook.  Also, his past messages can be heard by going to the FBC website.
     Each Sunday morning at 9:45 a. m. there are Bible Study Life Groups for every age group.  God’s Word is taught and personal relationships are developed.  The joy of going to church is to worship Christ and to pray with other followers of Christ.

A GREAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-MONDAY:          
   VBS is off and running.  Adults and children are everywhere.  It is an exciting place here with many different ages and plenty of great smiling faces.  It is great how God is using adults and young students to share the Good News of Christ, plenty of love and attention and children having a great time.  Vacation Bible School is a very important and successful ministry of FBC.  Our thanks and appreciation for all the hard work, time and love given out by so many people.
     Yesterday was Father’s Day at FBC.  The rain came about the time most people started to church, but we were blessed by some wonderful church family people that were able to attend regardless of the weather.  FBC is blessed to have the Worship Service and Bible Study Life Group shown on Cable Channel 2 locally and it is, also, streamed on Facebook.  There is a group of people not seen in the Sound Booth in the Worship Center and the Broadcast Room that are working very hard each Sunday to broadcast the picture and sound to the community.  Just another special way God uses television and radio to give out the Good News of Christ.
     The last point in Pastor Jeff’s message yesterday was:  “PRESS ON!”  It was taken from Phillippians 3:12. Regardless of your circumstances, situations, or conditions, you continue to press on.  This is one reason why the word: “THROUGH” is so important.  God always leads us “THROUGH” the valley, the circumstances, the situations or the conditions.  You never give UP.  You never give IN.  You never give OUT.  You hang in there to complete your life’s journey.
     This afternoon at 2:00 p. m. the church staff will have its regular staff meeting.  Pastor Jeff will be leading this meeting.

A GREAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-THURSDAY:

            EXCITEMENT GROWS-- VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL—BEGINS MONDAY (6/17)

     Last night was a great spiritual experience here at FBC.  There was a good group of adults for RECHARGE in the Worship Center.  Dr. Gravens gave a Bible Study on the life of Mary and Martha.  We appreciate Ronnie and Anita Glossip leading the music and it was great to have Johnny Ross sharing in a music solo after his surgery.  There were children in the preschool, children and student ministries.  Brad Holland led the Adult Teacher’s Meeting and Tom Fineout led the Adult Worship Choir rehearsal.  There is always something very special on Wednesday night for all ages at FBC.

     CIRCLE THIS DATE ON YOUR CALENDAR!--- Monday morning (6/17).  Vacation Bible School begins at 8:30 a. m. for children 5 years old through grade 6.  The theme for this year:  “IN THE WILD”.  VBS is one of the most important ministries that occurs each year to reach children with Bible Study and the Gospel.  You can register your child on line or come by the church office.  This year, each child will need to check in each morning and then the parent will get a security tag to get your child after VBS is over.  One way to keep your child safe and secure.

     Each Friday morning there is Men’s Coffee Fellowship at 8:30 a. m. in Room 109.  All men are invited to attend and enjoy the fellowship.

     Sunday (6/16) is Father’s Day.  FBC will have Sunday morning services at the usual time.  All men will receive a special gift from FBC.  At 8:30 a. m. and 11:00 a. m. in the morning worship services, Dr. Gravens will be preaching from Philippians 3:1-14 and his message is entitled: “CONFIDENCE IN CHRIST”.  It will be an exciting and worshipful time.  There will be no evening service this Sunday because it is a great time to spend time with your family and the special man in your life.  There will be Bible Study Life Groups meeting at 9:45 a. m. for Bible Study and there is a place for you.  Did you know that you can watch and hear the preaching services each Sunday over Cable Channel 2 or stream the service on Facebook?  If you cannot attend a worship service in person, you can watch and listen by cable television or streaming on Facebook.

     It is easy to hear many different ideas and philosophies in today’s world and life journey.  It is most important to know God’s Word.  The BIBLE (Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth) is God’s guide and playbook for your life’s journey.  I would rather know what God says and you hear God speak when you read God’s Word-The BIBLE.  Speak the words as you read and you can hear God speak to you.

                   A very busy day at FBC.  The preschool, children and middle school are being decorated over the whole church for Vacation Bible School.  Tonight RECHARGE will begin at 6:00 p. m. in the FBC Worship Center with Dr. Jeff Gravens bringing the Bible Study.  Ronnie and Anita Glossip will be leading the congregational music and Johnny Ross will do a musical solo.  FBC Wednesday night is the place to be.  There will be Worship Choir Practice in the Choir Suite and other ministries going on.

      An important word in the Bible is:  THROUGH!  We go THROUGH the valley.  We go THROUGH life’s journey.  We do no pitch our tent or RV in the valley.  We get through the valley and the best campsite is on the other side on higher ground.  The good news is that on life’s journey, you do not journey alone.  As a follower of Christ, the Holy Spirit guides and directs our life’s path (HE LEADS US IN PATHS).

A GREAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-MONDAY:
            EXCITEMENT IS BUILDING FOR VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL—ONE WEEK AWAY
     There is so much happening today at FBC.  The building is being transformed with excitement and decorations for VBS “IN THE WILD”.  Next Monday morning (6/17) Vacation Bible School begins at 8:30 a. m. for children 5 years old through grade 6.  VBS is one of the most important ministries that occurs each year to reach children with Bible Study and the Gospel.  You can register your child on line or come by the church office.  This year, each child will need to check in each morning and then the parent will get a security tag to get your child after VBS is over.  One way to keep your child safe and secure.
     Today the staff meeting began at 2:00 p. m. with Dr. Gravens leading the staff.  Staff meeting begins with a Bible Study led by Pastor Jeff and then the prayer requests from Sunday worship services are prayed for by the staff.  Planning and ministry opportunities are part of the discussion at staff meeting.
     Tomorrow morning (6/11) the Widower’s Breakfast will begin at 8:00 a. m. in the Whataburger Restaurant.  All men who would like to attend are welcome. 
     This Wednesday night (6/12) there will be RECHARGE at 6:00 p. m. in the Worship Center.
 Dr. Jeff Gravens will be teaching and leading the Bible Study.  It is exciting and a great opportunity to study God’s Word.  Everyone is invited regardless of age.  
     Summer camps for children and youth are coming up soon.  There is still time to register your child or student for summer camp.
     A WARNING!  When you place a grave marker in the cemetery, it is important NOT to place your name and birthday on the tomb stone until the person is deceased.  Many people will place the widow or widower’s name and birthdate on the tombstone after a mate has died.  This gives people to much identity to steal or allows a wrong person to know that there is only one person in the home any more.  It is cheaper to have the grave marker done at one time, but very dangerous to give out information until the person is deceased.
     Learning to stay positive in a negative world is still possible.  Coming to worship services; reading your Bible daily; praying; being a member of a Bible Study Life Group; serving the Lord in the neighborhood;  helps you to keep a positive attitude.

A GREAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-TUESDAY:
    Today is the third day of the week and a wet day after a rain storm went through Sulphur Springs.  This afternoon is a sunny sky and looks beautiful.  This morning we had Diamond Set and a very slim crowd because of the bad weather.  It was a delicious lunch for a few and a great program.  Don Sapaugh and Tony Cook were our program guests.  Both men are very active deacons in the church family and work at one of our local banks.  Don Sapaugh sang three songs.  Tony Cook shared some very important and pertinent information for senior adults.  Today more scams stealing your money and wealth are taking place among all age groups.  It is very important to be aware of the different scams and how to deal with them.  Our deep thanks to Don and Tony for the great program.

     Your language is an indicator many times of what you think, how you act and what you think.  I walked into a convenience store and a man used some vulgar language.  Just because some individuals think they have a right or freedom, it is still in poor taste and lack of wisdom.  Whether we are in front of men or ladies, our language should be pure and holy.

A GREAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-WEDNESDAY:
     This has been a busy week at First Baptist Church.  On Monday the Memorial Service for Ed Wood was held in Spence Chapel.  On Tuesday the Memorial Service for Virginia Worsham was held in the Worship Center.  A ministry by different Bible Study Life Groups is done for each family in the memorial service.  The class or department provides a wonderful delicious meal for the family.  Many different people are involved for each family lunch during this time.
     This evening (5/15 at 5/15) the church family picnic will be held at the pavilion in Buford Park.  It begins at 5:15 p. m.  There will be plenty of hot dogs, trimmings, and snow cones.  Plenty of games, good food and excitement.  This will be a time for the church family to gather for a great time of fellowship and getting to know each other better.
     Tomorrow morning at 9:00 a. m. the Parents Day Out ministry will be in full swing.  Each Friday at 8:30 a. m. in room 108 there is the Men’s Coffee Fellowship.  Don Brown leads this ministry activity.  There is plenty of coffee, great relationships, and time to visit.  Everyone is invited regardless of age.  This week (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) at the local Thee Christian Book Store in the mall, Don Brown will be having a book signing on his new published book.  Go by and let Don give you his autograph. 
     Marriage Night 2019 is May 17 at FBC.  It begins at 6:00 p. m. in Fellowship Hall.  Marriage experts Francis & Lisa Chan and Les & Leslie Parrott will be here to lead the conference.  The cost is $15.00 per person with a meal included.  Childcare is available.  Sign up at ssfbc.org/events.

     Followers of Christ are given marching orders to help when needed, volunteer and give a word of encouragement to others.  A great way to help others is to smile, give a kind word, talk with people in a store instead of bull dozing your way through the store as fast as you can.  Most people are helped by a beautiful smile, a kind word and knowing that you are willing to listen.  Make a difference in your neighborhood by learning to look, to take time to listen and to smile.

A GREAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-THURSDAY:
     Last night Pastor Jeff did a fantastic job of teaching God’s Word at RECHARGE.  Don Sapaugh was a blessing as he shared his ability and talent in music.  There were 125 in Bible Study.  We praise the Lord for the renewed attendance and joy in Bible Study.  Also, there was a large attendance for the church family meal.  We want to thank Lawana Powell and her kitchen crew for the fine and wonderful meals that are prepared each Wednesday evening.  Last night was the last church family meal at the church until school starts in August.  There were many different age group ministries going on last night throughout the building.
     Today the Parent’s Day Out began at 9:00 a. m.  Today the church staff will be at Sulphur Springs High School to serve the school staff lunch.  There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, dessert and drink.  We honor the staff and greatly appreciate their hard work and commitment to teaching the students.  We are blessed in Hopkins County to have great schools and teaching staff to love, educate and help the students.  These students are the future generations, employment and greatness of America.  To all the teachers, administrators and workers at the schools, we salute and thank you for your hard work and commitment.
     Next Wednesday (5/15) the church family picnic will be at the pavilion in Buford Park.  It begins at 5:15 p. m.  There will be plenty of nachos, frito chili pies, hot dogs, and snow cones.  Plenty of games, good food and excitement.  This will be a time for the church family to gather for a great time of fellowship and getting to know each other better.

A GREAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-WEDNESDAY:
     This evening Pastor Jeff will be here to lead RECHARGE and to teach the Word of God.  We will meet in the Worship Center at 6:15 p. m.  The church family menu is: tacos; charro beans; chips; salsa; pico; queso; salad; drink and dessert.  All other activities begin at 6:00 p. m. and end at 7:15 p. m.  It is wet here in Sulphur Springs and a great way to keep dry by studying God’s Word together.
     Today was the last session for Community Bible Study for this school year.  The children and parents will have the summer off.  The next session of the Community Bible Study will begin next September.  We are thankful to have this organization studying God’s Word at FBC.
     Tomorrow the Parent’s Day Out will be in full swing.  The church family loves to have the different ministries for preschoolers.  On Friday there is a special time at the ROC for parents and preschoolers.  Every Sunday and Wednesday, there are special times for preschoolers to attend and learn about God’s Word.

     Growing old is not a choice (unless you die).  Having the right positive attitude about aging is YOUR choice.  As you age, your body will change (from birth until God calls you Home).  Every age as the body changes has some aches and pain.  Thank the Lord for medicine, new medical technology, and prayer you can have aches and pains, but God gives grace and strength to live one day at a time.

A GRAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH—WEDNESDAY
                                                PERHAPS TODAY!!
     Today is Wednesday (5/1).  RECHARGE will begin at 6:15 p. m. in room 109 and Dr. Gravens will lead the Bible Study.  A special treat will be a music solo by Colbie Glenn, an eighth grader in the Middle School.  The church family menu is: chicken fried steak; baked potato; salad; roll; drink and dessert.  There are many different ministry activities for all ages each Wednesday night.  High school and middle school students will meet in the ROC tonight at 6:30 p. m. for spring awakening.  The adult Bible Study teachers will meet tonight along with the adult worship choir.  Preschool and children will meet tonight in their ministry area.
      VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL SIGN-UP!  This Sunday (5/5) begins the first sign-up for volunteers in Vacation Bible School.  The date for Vacation Bible School is June 17-21.  One of the greatest weeks in the life of the church family.  Many children come to be followers of Christ because of their teaching and learning from VBS.  Please mark your calendar for June 17-21 and be a part as a volunteer and be sure to help your children, grandchildren and neighbors to come.
         MARK YOU CALENDAR!  On Wednesday night (5/15) there will be a church family picnic at the Buford Park Pavilion.  Plenty of great food and plenty of different activities for all ages.  It will begin at 5:15 p. m.
     Everyone needs to be a part of the church family.  Church denomination has nothing to do with being a follower of Christ.  Relationship with Christ is a personal decision with the Living Christ.  Jesus followers have a personal relationship and commitment to Christ.

A GREAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-WEDNESDAY:
     This evening Pastor Jeff will be here to lead RECHARGE and to teach the Word of God.  Susan Fisher will be singing a music solo and Megan McCoy will be here to share her Christian story.  The church family menu for this week is:  chicken strips; gravy; macaroni & cheese; green beans; roll; salad; drink and dessert.  There is a ministry event for every age from bed babies to senior adults.  It is an exciting place to be on Wednesday night.
     The church family picnic will be on Wednesday evening (5/15) at the pavilion in Buford Park.  It begins at 5:15 p. m.  There will be plenty of hamburgers, hot dogs, trimmings, and snow cones.  Set your calendar and be sure to come.  Plenty of games, good food and excitement.

A friend of yours could be the very person that would like to know the purpose and reason for being a part of the church family.
     Growing older begins at conception and lasts until Jesus calls his children home.  Life (part of growing older) is not for sissies.  Every generation thinks that they are facing the most difficult time.  It is always important to keep a positive attitude as a follower of Christ by keeping your eyes on Jesus and reading your Bible daily.  The Bible: (Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth).

A GREAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-TUESDAY:
     Today the staff meeting began at 9:00 a. m.  with Pastor Jeff leading.  Parent’s Day Out began their week and there are only a few more sessions left for this school year.  Hard to believe that the end of school and high school graduation is just around the corner.  Ladies Praying Together meet this morning at 9;00 a. m. in the Conference Room.  Today at 11:30 a. m. Diamond Set met for their monthly meeting.  Michelle Tipps did a fantastic job of singing and sharing her story.  We are blessed as a church family to have Kevin and Michell Tipps and family at FBC.  Tonight the Gideons of Hopkins County are having a dinner for all pastors and staff members of churches in the Hopkins County area.
     On Wednesday night ((4/24) Pastor Jeff will be here in RECHARGE to teach the Word of God.  The church family menu for this week is:  chicken strips; gravy; macaroni & cheese; green beans; roll; salad; drink and dessert. 
     A great ministry of FBC is called the Car Care Ministry.  Three men work on Wednesday night to repair cars and help single mothers or senior adults with their car repairs.  It is not seen by many people because they use the back of the youth building to repair the cars.  It has a great kingdom effect on people of Sulphur Springs.
     The purpose of the Christian Kingdom and FBC is:

We as a church family on a daily mission as we follow Christ.  We are gifted people to minister in the Name of Christ to others.

A GRAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH—WEDNESDAY
                                                PERHAPS TODAY!!
     Yesterday we began the day with staff meeting and it was great to have our new pastor, Dr. Gravens, there for the first time.  Parents Day Out began at 9:00 a. m.  Dr. Gravens was very busy with the help of others to get his new office set up and ready to work.
       Today, the Community Bible Study began at 9:00 a. m.  There are only two more sessions left for this Bible Study year.  There are different ages from preschool through high school involved in the study of God’s Word during the Community Bible Study.  Tonight RECHARGE will meet in room 109 at 6:15 p. m. with Andy Smith as the Bible Teacher.  The church family menu is:  barbeque chicken; baked potato salad; fried okra; salad; roll; drink and dessert.  The adult choir will be meeting at 6:00 a. m. and other Bible study ministries from preschool through high school youth will be studying God’s Word.
     Next Sunday (4/21) is Easter.  Our new pastor, Dr. Jeff Gravens, will be in the pulpit for the first time.  It is going to be an exciting day.  There will be two full morning worship services at 8:30 a. m. in the Worship Center and Spence Chapel.  At 11:00 a. m.  there will be two full morning worship services in the Worship Center and Spence Chapel.  Dr. Gravens will be preaching in the Worship Center for all services.  There will be NO evening worship services on Easter Sunday night.
     There is still time to sign your student up for summer camp.  The children and the youth have special camps to attend.  For information, please contact the church office.
     The CROSS is a clear demonstration of God’s love for you and the world.  The CROSS was a cruel and mean way of punishment.  Jesus went to the CROSS willingly and for a purpose.

A GRAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH—THURSDAY
                                                PERHAPS TODAY!!
     Last night at RECHARGE, Dr. Hardage gave a wonderful message from God’s Word to keep remembering what you have seen and experienced from God’s Hand of Blessing.  Jason Glenn and Tommy Johnston led the church family in the monthly business meeting.  There were many other different age grade ministries going on throughout the church.  The building was full of people from various age groups studying God’s Word.
     Every Wednesday morning the Community Bible Study meets in the church building.  Susan Cutrell leads the adults in the study of God’s Word, but there are other volunteers that teach the children about God’s Word.  Bible Study is not limited to one church or one denomination.  The Study of God’s Word is relevant for all people, all ages and all denominations.
     Thursday (4/11) the day began with Parent’s Day Out in the Preschool Ministry area.  The office is very busy with mail outs and other activities preparing for Palm Sunday.  The 60 Plus will have a Night Out by going to Vaughn’s Catfish Restaurant.  The bus leaves at 5:00 p. m.  Anyone is invited to come and enjoy of good night out of food and fellowship.
     Dr. Don Brown has written a new book and published.  The name is:  “EXPERIENDCES OF A LIFE TIME”.  You can order the book on Amazon.  Don would love for you to read his life adventures and share how God has led Don and Nora through the years.
     Dr. Vang will be here this Sunday to lead the church family on Palm Sunday.  This will be the last Sunday to have Dr. Vang and his wife with us.  A love offering is being taken to show the church families love and appreciation for them.  On Sunday night the observance of the Lord’s Supper will be in the 6:00 p. m. worship service.  A reception for the Vangs will be in Fellowship Hall for the Vangs.

A GRAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH—TUESDAY
                                                PERHAPS TODAY!!
     Sunday was a wonderful day at First Baptist Church.  Dr. Vang did a super job in his biblical message and preparing the church for a new pastor.  Dr. Vang’s last Sunday with us is Palm Sunday (4/14).  We have been blessed as a church family in having him and his wife with us for the past year.  A love offering is being taken up by the church family to show our love and appreciation for him and his wife.  There will be a reception for them next Sunday night after the evening worship service.  On this Sunday night, Dr. Vang will lead in the observance of the Lord’s Supper.
     Yesterday, we began the work week with Staff Meeting at 9:00 a. m. and Tommy Johnston lead the staff meeting.  On Monday evening the CBS meet to study the Bible and Dr. Curt Cutrell leads the evening group.  Two of our staff members are in a conference and mission evaluation preview trip for the summer mission trip.  They plan to be back on Wednesday.
     Today Parent’s Day Out begins at 8:30 a. m.  The Women’s Prayer Group met in the Conference Room at 9:00 a. m. 
     Wednesday (4/10) RECHARGE Bible study will begin at 6:15 p. m. in room 109.  The Bible teacher will be Dr. David Hardage of the BGCT.  Dr. Hardage is a former pastor of FBC and the Executive Director of the Baptist General Convention of Texas.  The church family menu:  chicken fried steak; gravy; mashed potatoes; green beans; salad; roll; drink and dessert.
     Thursday (4/11) the 60 Plus will have a Night Out by going to Vaughn’s Catfish Restaurant.  The bus leaves at 5:00 p. m.  Anyone is invited to come and enjoy of good night out of food and fellowship.

A GREAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-TUESDAY

      Today Parents Day Out began at 8:30 a. m.  At 9:00 a. m. Ladies Praying Together met in the Conference Room.  At 9:00 a. m. Rehoboth Baptist Association ha a preaching clinic in Fellowship Hall.  The guest speaker was Dr.  Bob McCartney who is pastor of the Wichita Falls  First Baptist Church.  The seventh annual 50 PLUS HEALTH FAIR will be held at the ROC from 4:30 p. m. through 6:30 p. m.  There will be free hot dogs, chips and drink for all that attend.  This year the time is later in the afternoon to give an opportunity for those people still in the employment world to attend.  

     Last Sunday night the FBC preschoolers sang in the 6:00 p. m. Worship Service.  They were a blessing and did a super job.   We are thankful to have them and they are the future church.

     On Wednesday night (4/3) for RECHARGE, Dr. Kent Pate will be the Bible teacher.  The church family menu is: chicken fried steak; baked potatoes with fixings; salad; drink and dessert.  There will be other ministries for all ages from 6:00 p. m. to 7:
   

     Dr. Preben Vang will be here for the next two Sundays.  On Palm Sunday (4/14) every person coming to a worship service will receive a palm branch to use during the worship service.  Dr. Vang will be here to preach and special plans for the worship services on Palm Sunday.  The evening worship service on Palm Sunday will be the observance of the Lord’s Supper.  A reception for Dr. and Mrs. Vang will be held in Fellowship Hall after the evening worship service.  A love offering is being collected to honor Dr. Vang.

     On Easter Sunday morning (4/21) our new pastor, Dr. Gravens, will be here to preach for the first time as Pastor of FBC.  There will be two full services at the 8:30 a. m. and the 11:00 a. m. services.  There will be two classic services in the Worship Center and two contemporary services in Spence Chapel.  Dr. Gravens will preach in the Worship Center at the 8:30 and 11:00 a. m. worship services.

    We collect a lot of toys in life.   The last box we find ourselves in, we do not have any of our toys with us.

A GREAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-MONDAY:
      Today we started the week off with staff meeting beginning at 8:15 a. m. with Dr. Vang leading.  Big plans are being made for Palm Sunday and Easter.  On Palm Sunday every person coming to a worship service will receive a palm branch to use during the worship service.  Dr. Vang will be here to preach and lead in the worship services on Palm Sunday.  On Easter Sunday morning there will be two full services at the 8:30 a. m. and the 11:00 a. m. services.  There will be a two classic services in the Worship Center and two contemporary services in Spence Chapel.  This evening the Community Bible Study will be meeting and Dr. Cutrell will be leading.
     Yesterday was a super day in the life of the church family.  At the morning worship services Wade Johnston and the Pastor Search Committee shared with the church family that Dr. Jeff Gravens and his family will be here next Sunday (3/31) in view of a call of being the new pastor of Sulphur Springs First Baptist Church.  He will be preaching in all three worship services on Sunday.  There will be a special time on Saturday afternoon (3/30) in Fellowship Hall from 5:00 p. m. to 6:00 p. m. to meet Dr. Gravens and his family.
     Yesterday the worship services were great as Dr. Vang preached from God’s Word.  In the 8:30 a. m. Classic Service John Orr gave a personal testimony and song of God’s faithfulness through his life journey.  He was backed up by the Adult Worship Choir and God blessed all that were in attendance.
     Tomorrow (3/26) is Diamond Set.  Legacy Hospice will be here at 10:45 a. m. to take blood pressure checks.  The delicious meal prepared by Lawana Powell and Shirley Edington will begin at 11:30 a. m.  The special music and sharing time will be done this month by Jana DeWitt.  It will be a great program and wonderful time.  The meal cost $5.00 per person and everyone is invited to attend.
   On Wednesday night (3/27) for RECHARGE, Dr. Roy Edgemon will be the Bible teacher.  The church family menu is: chicken strips; gravy; macaroni & cheese; steamed broccoli; salad; rolls; drink and dessert.    
     On Tuesday (4/2) the seventh annual 50 PLUS HEALTH FAIR will be held at the ROC from 4:30 p. m. through 6:30 p. m.  There will be free hot dogs, chips and drink for all that attend.  This year the time is later in the afternoon to give an opportunity for those people still in the employment world to attend.

     No one but a baby likes change (according to Will Rogers).  Every day our body, mind and spirit go through change, but our attitude seems to resist change.  Life is continually changing from technology, culture and people.  It is important as followers of Christ to stay focused on the never changing truth of God.  Our methodology of presenting God’s truth will change, but God’s Word (THE BIBLE) never changes.

A GREAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-TUESDAY
     Another beautiful morning here in Sulphur Springs.  There is no Parent’s Day Out this week because of spring break.  The skiers will be on the slopes of Colorado for the first full day of skiing.  Please continue to pray for these people that are enjoying the beauty of the Colorado mountains and for a safe return trip on Friday.
     Tomorrow night (3/20) RECHARGE will be led by Dr. David Hardage.  There will be NO church family meal this Wednesday because of spring break.  The New Life Journey course: “The Real God” will meet in room 108 at 6:00 p. m. with Kenneth Rhoades leading.  The Adult Worship Choir will be practicing at their regular scheduled time.
     SET YOUR CALENDAR DATE!  On Tuesday (4/2) the 50 + HEALTH FAIR will be held at the FBC ROC.  The times are 4:30-6:30 p. m.  This year the time frame is totally different.  It will be in the early evening for people in this age group that continue to work to have the opportunity to come for FREE medical information, tests, and gifts.

A GREAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-MONDAY
     A beautiful sunny day in Sulphur Springs with the local school systems on spring break for the faculty and students.  The ski trip to Colorado is in full session and on Tuesday the skiers begin their first day of skiing.  They had a safe trip to the slopes and at 4:00 p. m. the group will be fitted out with the ski equipment.  We began the day with staff meeting at 8:45 a. m. with Tommy Johnston leading. 
     We were thankful for the great day of worship yesterday.  Dr. Vang preached two great sermons in the morning and evening.  We are thankful for how God is using Dr. Vang to lead the church family.  The deacons had a great afternoon class with Dr. Roy Edgemon.  There were 18 deacons present and others out on spring break. 
     This Wednesday night (3/20) RECHARGE will be led by Dr. David Hardage.  There will be NO church family meal this Wednesday because of spring break.  The New Life Journey course: “The Real God” will meet in room 108 at 6:00 p. m. with Kenneth Rhoades leading.  The Adult Worship Choir will be practicing and there will be the Adult Teacher’s Meeting.
     There is still a great need for a person to step up and volunteer to help arrange the altar flowers on a Monday morning, once a month.  If you are willing to help, please contact the church office.

A GREAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-THURSDAY
    RECHARGE last night with Dr. David Hardage was great and he did a super job of sharing God’s Word.  We are blessed to have him back next Wednesday night.  One of the great ministries of FBC is called Encourager Anonymous.  People meet at 5:00 p. m. to pray for others and write notes of encouragement.  This ministry was begun by a lady in FBC that is now with the Lord.  Encourager Anonymous is a fantastic ministry that blesses people in many different areas of our country.
     This morning the Parent’s Day Out began at 9:00 a.m. for our preschool ministry.  This afternoon in Spence Chapel the memorial service of Bill Laminack, NM, (father of Carla Buck) will be held at 2:00 p. m.  The family meal will be held in room 108 at 12:30 p. m.  This afternoon Tonight (3/14) will be Game Night at the FBC ROC.  It begins at 6:00 p. m.  There will be plenty of games and refreshments.  Everyone is invited. 
     CALLING ALL DEACONS:  This Sunday afternoon (3/17) Dr. Roy Edgemon will continue the class for all active deacons.  The class begins at 4:45 p. m. in room 108.  All active deacons are invited and should attend if at all possible. 
     Sunday (3/17) Dr. Vang will be preaching in all three worship services.  His morning message at 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a. m. will be: “Understanding The Seating At The Banquet Table” from Luke 14:7-14.  In the evening worship service at 6:00 p. m. Dr. Vang will continue the series, “Telling God’s Story”.  At 9:45 a. m. on each Sunday morning there are Bible Study Life Groups for every age.
       All summer camps for children, middle school and high school students are taking registration now for the summer.  Please get your student signed up for an exciting and wonderful Christian experience.
     Jesus came preaching, “The Kingdom of God is at hand”.  For every follower of Christ, that person is part of God’s Kingdom.  The Kingdom of God is on earth and Jesus will reign in the Kingdom of God in Heaven.

A GREAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-TUESDAY
     Monday started the week with the staff meeting led by Dr. Vang.  The staff is making plans for Palm Sunday and Easter which is right around the corner in April.  Last night the Community Bible Study met to study God’s Word.
     Today the Widower’s Breakfast was held at Whataburger Restaurant.  The restaurant is a busy meeting place for many senior adults.  Almost everyone was drinking coffee.  At 9:00 a. m. the Parent’s Day Out began with a lot of exciting preschoolers coming to enjoy a day and parents leaving with a smile on their face.  At 9:00 a. m. Ladies Praying Together met in the Conference Room for prayer.
     Tomorrow night (3/13) RECHARGE will meet at 6:15 p. m. with Dr. David Hardage leading the Bible Study.  The church family menu is:  soft meat tacos; pinto beans; queso; chips; hot sauce; drink and dessert.  The New Life Journey class entitled: “THE REAL GOD” will be held in room 108 beginning at 6:00 p. m.  Anyone can join the class.

     Someone asked who owns the church.  The answer is always God.  God purchased the church through His Son’s death and resurrection.  The church is made up of human beings purchased by Jesus blood on the cross and resurrection for the forgiveness of sin and being made righteous.  No human being can own or buy the church.
